Hitman in the Hand of Buddha is solid kung fu flick with Hwang Jang Lee playing the good guy for once. Fans of Hwang Jang Lee will be happy to see him unleash his kicks of fury and actually win at the end of the movie.

Febuary 11, 2011: Two on the Road aka Fearless Dragons Review


Two on the Road, also known as Fearless Dragons is a great kung fu comedy featuring well known stars, Leung Kar Yan, Philip Ko Fei and Wang Lung Wei. It features some great choreography and contains both comedy and off the wall action that fans of the kung fu genre love.

If you were on the website over the last week or so you may have noticed anomalies with the website. I have been working on the background infrastructure of the website to help me post reviews easier. This should lead to more reviews and hopefully a search function in the near future. Stay tuned !

January 12, 2011: Death Duel of Kung Fu Review


Death Duel of Kung Fu is a film featuring the duo of John Liu and Wong Tao taking on the regular villian Eagle Han Ying. It is a good movie with good performance by all of the main actors and is a film not to be missed by fans of the genre.

December 29, 2010: The Loot Review


The Loot is a great movie released in 1980 starring a number of kung fu stars. It features superb choreography and is one of my top rated movies.

Physical Artistry: Elements in the Art of Fight Choreography


The fight sequences within the kung fu movie genre are a unique form of performance art which shares many qualities with dance.  Much like a well choreographed performance dance, a good fight sequence has a rhythm and the movements are executed with an expressive quality.  Fight choreography is used to tell a story through movement.  Through the choreography the viewer learns about the characters strengths and weaknesses.  In order to successfully accomplish this, a choreographer must be a painter who can visualize and properly use his tools, the actors/actresses, scenery and props, to create the given story.  He should use them and their abilities to create movements and actions that are aesthetically pleasing and expressive to the viewer.  The quality of a fight scene is dependent on the creative skill of the choreographer, the physical skill of the performers and the cinematography skills of the cameramen. There are three major elements that the choreographer uses to convey his expression to the viewer, technique, rhythm and camera work.  The first element borrows stylistically from Beijing opera, the second from dance and the last element is used in all film.  Read More
